Stagger
A staggered entrance tells the eye what to read first. Used on a list someone scrolls past all day, it tells them the product is slow.
The homepage's arrival is the one place on this site with a stagger: identity, then the label, then the cards from the chosen one outward at 70ms a step, then the caption, then the controls. It plays once per visit. Nothing else staggers. A routine list, a tab change, a row hover: instant, or a single opacity transition.
- Infrequent, hierarchy-communicating entrances only: a hero on first load, a success state, an empty state
- About 100ms between chunks, 30–80ms between items in a group
- Decorative: input works during the stagger, and the target pose is live
